When I started my nature photography journey I sought to capture all aspects that nature had to offer, however, when I discovered the ducks that migrate here in the late fall and spend the winter I became fascinated by behaviour. I was particularly fascinated by the fact they dive for their food. I then began to study their behaviour seeking to capture their dives in particular. Ontario Place became one of my favourite destinations to study these ducks because it was an easy destination for me to get to and it abled me to observe, study and photograph these ducks without minimal impact on them. In this post, I share some of the photos from the first year that I really began frequenting Ontario Place to study them, which was 2018.

There is wide variety of winter ducks which can be seen in and around Ontario Place including Long-tailed ducks, Red-breasted mergansers, Greater Scaups, Redhead ducks, Bufflehead ducks, Common goldeneye ducks, Common mergansers, Hooded mergansers and White-winged scoters.

The next post will continue to showcase the birds that I have been blessed to observe, study and capture with my camera along this very important stretch of our waterfront.
